Black Sticky Rice Pudding


1 Cup Nagasari Pulut Susu ERA Rice, soak for 3 hours

2 tablespoons activated charcoal powder (you can also use black food coloring gel)

1 cup of coconut milk

3 tablespoons melaka sugar, to taste

3 cups of water

2 Pandan leaves, knotted

1/2 teaspoon of Salt


  1. Rinse and filter the Nagasari Pulut Susu ERA Rice until the water becomes clear.

  2. Using a whisk, mix activated charcoal powder with coconut milk until it becomes a paste.

  3. Combine Nagasari Pulut ERA Rice, water, coconut milk, salt and pandan leaves in a pot until it boils.

  4. Cover and simmer for 45-60 minutes or until the rice is tender. Keep checking the water level. If the water is reduced, add more water then mix the melaka sugar to taste.

  5. Serve in a small bowl with excess coconut milk.
